Palliative Care

What is TRU Palliative Care?

The TRU Palliative Care program was started as a way of providing care to individuals who have chronic medical problems who are still seeking aggressive curative measures. TRU partners with patients, their caregivers, and primary care doctors and specialists to provide them with the care they need. Learn more in the above video.

  • Specialty trained palliative care providers who support you and your primary physician to optimize your quality of life
  • A collaborative approach to managing your physical, emotional, social, and spiritual needs
  • A shared effort to maximize your health and minimize your symptoms
  • Services provided concurrently with or independent of curative, life-prolonging care

How Does TRU Palliative Care Work?

  • You and your current medical provider request a TRU Palliative Care consult
  • A TRU Palliative Care team member meets with you and your loved ones to discuss your unique situation
  • The TRU Palliative Care team reviews your situation and works with you, in conjunction with your primary health care team, to best meet your needs

What Specifically Can TRU Palliative Care Help With?

  • Assist your primary physician with symptom management
  • Help you and your family establish and define your goals of care
  • Provide community resources, as needed
  • Help you with advance directives planning
  • Help you to match your medical treatment plans with your individual goals

Founded as Boulder Hospice in 1976, TRU is a Colorado-licensed, Medicare and Medicaid-certified, nonprofit health care organization serving Boulder, Broomfield, Adams, Jefferson, Arapahoe, Denver, and Weld Counties and beyond. With a focus on providing a continuum of care for members of our community living with advanced illness and loss, TRU’s programs include TRU Hospice, TRU PACE (Program of All-Inclusive Care for the Elderly), TRU Palliative Care, Landmark Memory Care, and TRU Grief Services.

TRU Hospice is proudly accredited by The Joint Commission and is a five-star-level hospice in NHPCO's We Honor Veterans program created in collaboration with the Department of Veterans Affairs (VA). TRU is a member of the National Hospice and Palliative Care Organization (NHPCO), the National Partnership for Healthcare and Hospice Innovation (NPHI), the Center to Advance Palliative Care (CAPC), Nurses Improving Care for Healthsystem Elders (NICHE), and the National PACE Association (NPA).
