JOB SUMMARY
The Grief Services Counselor is responsible for providing grief services to hospice families and community clients. They provide grief counseling and work with the agency’s Speaker Bureau to provide community grief presentations.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES
- Initiates bereavement assessment on family members and institutes a plan of care that provides appropriate support, follows up with plan of care with counseling, phone calls, or other interventions as needed, according to program guidelines
- Provides short-term grief-focused counseling as requested by hospice family members
- Provides supervision to counseling and MSW graduate student interns as needed
- Works with computer and tracking systems used to gather data and record family bereavement information
- Facilitates grief support groups as needed and participates in training new facilitators as requested.
- Participates in Speaker Bureau presentations regarding hospice services and grief topics as requested
EDUCATION AND QUALIFICATIONS
- Must be a graduate of an accredited Master’s Degree program in human services-related fields or counseling; LPC or LCSW preferred
- Must have 2 years of experience working with grief and credible professional training in grief work
- Support group facilitation experience, ideally grief groups, highly preferred
- EMDR-specialty trained, preferred.
