COVID-19 Testing at TRU
- COVID-19 Testing Dates/Times/Locations at TRU – last revised 12/27/21:
- Tuesdays (PACE): 7:30 – 9:30 AM
- Tuesdays (Tele-Care Center): 8:30 – 11:30 AM
- Thursdays (Care Center): 7:00 – 9:00 AM
- Fridays (Tele-Care Center): 8:00 AM – 11:30 AM
- We will still accept samples on Mondays and Thursdays (placed in the freezer).
- Results for tests being done at TRU are coming back in 48-72 hours at this time.
- Please complete this form prior to getting your FIRST COVID test. Save a copy of the pdf and rename. Click on “fill and sign” from the menu on the right hand side of the pdf. A screen will come up for who needs to sign, click “you”. You will then be able to add text boxes to each area. Please fill out your first and last name, DOB, gender, address, phone number, and email. Don’t worry about race and ethnicity. Print out a copy or email to Suzanne (or whoever is helping to test) to be printed out.
- If you are not new to testing at TRU, all we need is First Name and Last Name on the label, or use the pre-printed labels to avoid multiple staff having to handle the samples.
Facility Testing Protocols
- We continue to work through testing requirements for teams going to facilities. Many facilities may implement increased PCR testing, up to 2 times weekly.
- If you need a COVID-19 test in order to make visits to facility patients, you can get tested on the dates and times listed above at TRU.
- If you are unable to make any of those times, please collaborate with your manager to make alternative arrangements.
- If you are unable to see patients in person in facilities due to pending COVID-19 results:
- Collaborate with the PCC
- Notify the facility that results are pending
- Consider offering Tele-Care visits
- Ensure that weekly contact with MPOA/family is occurring with patient and facility updates
- Document a missed visit and indicate “unable to make visit in person due to pending COVID-19 test results”
- Continue to document all other patient/family/facility contact and attempted contacts in the record
- The frequency of negative testing results varies depending on positivity rate and outbreaks and can be found under S:/Infection Control/COVID-19 Facility-Community Updates
- Facility Info as of 7/30/21:
- According to CDPHE, facilities could be requiring daily rapid tests and weekly PCR tests for unvaccinated staff.
- Supplies for rapid tests will be delivered to facilities by 8/9/21 and we anticipate daily rapid testing for unvaccinated individuals to begin on that date.
- One distinction is that if a rapid test comes back positive, but a PCR test comes back negative, the PCR test will overrule the rapid
- If there is a positive among staff, residents, or visitors, the facility will do another round of testing on everyone to rule out an outbreak. If there is even just one additional person who tests positive, the facility will be closed to the public (this includes family and visitors – not staff).
- Reminder for unvaccinated staff needing rapid tests: plan accordingly so you are not late for any visits since you will have to wait 20 minutes or so for results.
