Veterans Community Project – TRU Build Day

Another TRU Build Day!

Please join us for another TRU volunteer build day with the Veterans Community Project in Longmont, where we will be helping to provide sustainable living for veterans without homes.

Construction experience is helpful but not necessary.

We have 15 spots available, and you are welcome to sign up with a friend/ significant other or family member (18 or older). Each person must be registered separately.

When:  Saturday, September 28, 2024 from 8:30 am – 3:30 pm
Where:  3095 Mountain Brook Drive, Longmont

More about the Longmont VCP Village

VCP Village is a development that will feature 26 tiny homes built around a community center to help transition homeless veterans into permanent housing. 25 TRU team members showed up in 2023 at the project’s outset, and we now have another opportunity to help with interior work on unfinished homes.

There are 20 remaining homes that need to be finished; the exteriors of most homes are completed but a lot of interior work remains. VCP Village provides everything a veteran needs to live with dignity and safety — trauma-informed design with new furniture, appliances, housewares, bedding, and utilities, free of charge. More importantly, VCP Village provides sanctuary and the emotional space needed for the Veteran and VCP’s Veteran Support Services team to thoroughly address the underlying causes of his or her homelessness.

NOTE: If Saturday, September 28th is NOT a good day for you to volunteer, or the 15 registration spots are taken before you get a chance to sign up, please email Volunteer Coordinator Becki Parr at beckiparr@trucare.org and let her know you are interested in serving another day and what day of the week would be your preference. VCP has build days for community partners like TRU, on Wednesdays, Thursdays, Fridays and Saturdays. If enough people are interested, we will secure another TRU build day in addition to September 28th.

Register Here

Depending upon the response, TRU may secure a second build day. Please email beckiparr@trucare.org to express your interest or with questions.
