Volunteer Services Team

Changes in the Volunteer Services Department

With multiple recent and upcoming changes in the Volunteer Services department, it’s time to reintroduce you to the team! Between Amanda Meier’s departure (she’s still PRN right now – we won’t let her go that easily) along with 300+ volunteers and multiple programs to support, we’ve got a lot going on! There should always be one of us at the Louisville office, and we’d love for you to stop by and say hello!

Wendy Webster, with TRU for 6 years as a Volunteer Coordinator, has been promoted to Volunteer Services Supervisor. Wendy’s superpower is shouting out to the world about our volunteers. No kidding! She likes making sure all the boxes are checked, volunteers are secure in their role, and everyone is aware of how exc eptional you all are! Wendy’s favorite part of working at TRU is uncovering volunteer hopes for this experience and finding creative ways to match them with TRU needs. In her spare time, Wendy sings to her music, chats with all the dandelions in her bee garden, TRUly enjoys sharing about her job, and dreams of the ocean.

Becki Parr, with TRU for 2 years in August as a Volunteer Coordinator and champion for the We Honor Veterans Program, will soon be picking up oversight and coordination of The Conversation Project in Boulder County. Becki’s superpowers are her compassionate communication skills and gift of holding individual space for all she meets. Becki’s favorite part of working at TRU is being part of a team.  She enjoys collaborating with others and providing opportunities for volunteers to share their passion, talent, and time. In her spare time, she enjoys hiking, walking her dog, coffee with friends, date nights with her husband Scott and cheering on her 3 sons in soccer, basketball, drama or math competitions. Life is full and working for TRU consistently reminds her that human connection is one of the most important things.

Briana (Svege) Varto started as a volunteer with TRU in 2017 but began working with TRU in the Grief Services Department in December of 2021 as Grief Group Coordinator. Recently, she joined the volunteer team. Bri is holding onto her responsibilities in Grief Services three days a week and expanding as a Volunteer Coordinator overseeing Care Center volunteering and the tuck-in program the other two days. Bri’s superpower is connecting with others & managing multiple tasks/projects at once, and her favorite part of working at TRU is the work we do and people we interact with. In her spare time, she enjoys running, spending time with family & friends, and watching a funny movie.

Casey Weiss has been a friendly face at the front door at Trailridge in her Grief Services Coordinator role since July 2021. Casey will transition in the next few weeks to a Volunteer Coordinator – moving to the Louisville office and supporting a significant portion of the volunteer program. Casey will miss her grief team and Trailridge family as much as they will miss her, but she’s excited to grow within TRU in this new position. Casey’s superpowers are empathy and attentiveness. She believes that everyone should be heard, seen, and have their needs deeply considered. Her favorite part of working at TRU is the wonderful coworkers, volunteers, and clients. The people are what make TRU spectacular and Casey loves forming strong bonds with those around her. In her spare time, she enjoys running (but only in temperatures above 50 degrees), rock climbing, knitting, and most recently, playing pickleball with her husband.

Jen Thomas, with TRU for five years, wears multiple hats at TRU. After many years of fundraising, Jen passed that baton to Dave Samson and has been overseeing Marketing Communications, Volunteer Services, and the TRU Thrift Shop for a little over a year. Jen’s superpower is connecting… people, ideas, dots… connecting of any kind, and her favorite part of working at TRU is the endless opportunity to connect in service to a mission near and dear to her heart. In her spare time, she enjoys keeping up with her three- and five-year-old daughters, rock climbing, yoga, running, and spending time in the mountains. And spreadsheets. She really does enjoy spreadsheets.
