Step Two: Interview
We will contact you for a personal interview. During the interview, we’ll learn more about your skills and interests to find a volunteer role that is fulfilling for you and beneficial to the TRU PACE participants we serve.
Step Three: Orientation & Training
TRU PACE volunteers participate in a 1-2 hour orientation and receive on-the-job training. Orientation is usually held each month.
Volunteer Opportunities at TRU PACE
TRU PACE provides day center activities and outings for participants enrolled in our Program of All-Inclusive Care for the Elderly at our PACE Center in Lafayette. Engage with participants in activities that range from providing recreation, education, music and companionship.
Artist. Volunteer to create art or to teach participants.
Computer Support. Volunteer to lead a course or to assist a participant with their computer.
Exercise. Engage in individual or group exercise such as yoga or stretching.
Pet Therapy. If you have a Certified Therapy Pet, volunteer to provide pet visitation and companionship to participants in the Day Center.
Spiritual Support. Volunteers who are religious leaders or chaplains may visit with participants on an individual basis.
Cards. Engage with participants by playing card games such as cribbage, bridge, euchre, etc.
Crafts. Volunteers are needed to lead and/or support craft activities.
Games/Puzzles. Individual assistance with participants who are working on puzzles, board games, etc.
Reading/Writing/Poetry. Spend time with a participant or with a group reading and/or engaging in writing, which may include writing for them.
Companion. Volunteers are needed who can simply be with a participant by engaging in conversation or being at their side.
Excursion Companion. Our participants take field trips, and volunteers are needed to provide companionship and supervision during the outings.
Musician. If you have musical skills, you can volunteer to play the piano, guitar or other musical instrument or perhaps lead the group in songs.
Spanish Teacher. We have a need at times to provide Spanish language instruction if you are interested in teaching others.
Snack and Activity Assist. Volunteers are needed to assist in morning and afternoon snack distribution as well as assist participants and staff with the daily activity.
